Imitation crab meat originates from Japan and has been produced on the archipelago for over four centuries! However, the original method has little to do with our modern surimi sticks: it was an ancient technique for preserving fish, involving kneading rinsed fish flesh with salt, then steaming it into a loaf shape.

Ingredients

  • flour
    100 g flour
  • olive oil
    80 g olive oil
  • dill
    1 tbsp dill
  • 3 Eggs
  • 150 g semi-skimmed milk
  • 12 imitation crab sticks
  • 150 g grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1 packet baking powder

Thermomix Instructions

Preheat the oven to 200°C.

Add to the bowl2–6

  • 3 Oeufs
  • 100 grammes Farine
  • 150 grammes Lait demi-écrémé
  • 80 grammes Huile d'olive
  • 1 sachet Levure chimique

Cover with the lid and insert the measuring cup.

Mix for 30 seconds at speed 5.

Add to the bowl9–10

  • 12 Bâtons de surimi
  • 1 cuillère à soupe Aneth fraîche

Cover with the lid and insert the measuring cup.

Mix for 3 seconds at speed 4.

Add 150 grams of grated Gruyère cheese into the Thermomix bowl.

Cover with the lid and insert the measuring cup.

Stir for 5 seconds at spoon speed.

Transfer the mixture from the Thermomix into a loaf pan and bake in the oven for 32 minutes at 200°C. Adjust by plus or minus 5 minutes depending on your equipment.
