Ingredients

  • Emmental cheese
    200 g Emmental cheese
  • pepper
    1 pinch pepper
  • salt
    1 pinch salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 100 g Light liquid cream
  • 1 pinch Ground nutmeg
  • 8 slice White bread slices
  • 4 Ham slices

Grate the Emmental

Add the chopped Emmental, and blend.

Scrape the bowl sides

Scrape the sides of the bowl with the spatula.

Add egg and cream

Add the egg, the light cream, the nutmeg, pepper, and salt.

Prepare the bread

Lay the slices of white bread on the work surface, generously brush both sides with melted butter.

Assemble the croques

Spread 4 slices of bread with the mixture from the bowl, add a slice of ham, then a bit more of the mixture, and close with the remaining 4 slices.

Cook the croques

In a non-stick skillet, brown the croques over low heat until the cheese is melting and the bread is crispy.
